TYRUN closes €480,500 funding round to accelerate European growth
TYRUN has successfully closed its first external funding round, securing €480,500 in new capital to support the next phase of the company’s growth.
The milestone had already been shared earlier by the founders through TYRUN’s own community channels, where they addressed athletes, crew, partners and supporters in a personal letter.
“For us, this is about much more than raising money. It’s about having the resources to take the next steps in the vision we’ve had from day one.”
With the financing round now officially closed, TYRUN is sharing the milestone publicly.
Founded in Belgium, TYRUN is building a fitness racing brand around one simple ambition: give people a reason to train.
What started with a first test event has quickly developed into a growing fitness racing community, with events across Belgium and the Netherlands and the next phase of European expansion already taking TYRUN into France and Germany.
€480,500 to build the next phase
The financing combines equity, private financing, community funding and institutional financing, giving TYRUN a strong foundation to support its next phase of growth.
As part of the financing round, the founders sold a minority equity stake in TYRUN, bringing in additional strategic support while continuing to lead the company and its long-term direction.
For TYRUN, the capital provides the resources to invest ahead of growth and continue building the foundations of a long-term European fitness racing company.
In their earlier message to the community, the founders described that ambition in simple terms:
“Bigger races. Better experiences. New technology. A stronger team. More cities.”
The company is now putting those plans into action as it expands its event calendar and enters new European markets.
Built to scale
The new funding will support TYRUN’s continued expansion: growing the event calendar, entering new markets, strengthening the team, investing in equipment and event infrastructure, and further developing the technology behind the TYRUN ecosystem.
As part of the investment round, Thijs Granzier joins TYRUN through his investment company. Bringing financial and legal experience, Mr Granzier will take on the role of Chief Financial Officer, helping build the financial, legal and organisational structure required to support the company’s next phase of growth.
Behind that growth is an experienced group of people with backgrounds across business, finance, legal and marketing. That experience is increasingly shaping the structure behind TYRUN, helping the company professionalise its operations, make better long-term decisions and build on stronger foundations as it scales across Europe.
Mr Granzier’s involvement further strengthens that structure, adding dedicated financial leadership as TYRUN continues to professionalise and scale.
As TYRUN expands, the ambition is to keep improving the experience around every event while protecting what has driven the company from the beginning: its community, its identity and the experience on the race floor.
That mindset was already reflected in the founders’ earlier message to the community:
“We’re not here to recreate what already exists. We’re here to build what comes next.”
They also made clear that the funding itself is not the end goal, but a way to keep building on the original vision:
“For us, this is about much more than raising money. It’s about having the resources to take the next steps in the vision we’ve had from day one.”
The next chapter
TYRUN’s ambition extends beyond organising individual races.
The goal is to build a recognizable European fitness racing brand with its own events, community, technology and ecosystem.
The foundations have been laid in Belgium and the Netherlands. With France and Germany next, the company is entering a new stage of its European expansion while continuing to raise the standard of every TYRUN event.
The founders ended their original community letter with a reminder that, despite the significance of the funding round, the company is still at the beginning of that journey:
“This is a milestone we’ll celebrate silently. It’s not the finish line.”
This funding round, combined with a stronger leadership structure, gives TYRUN the resources to accelerate that journey and build the company for the long term.
The mission remains the same:
Give people a reason to train.
We are only getting started.
